I really do find it funny, though sad, that people got incredibly mad at the episode because of the fact that it basically made people feel like their "fan theories" on how the show will go/end were... well mocked. They felt like "Now it won't happen because they did this." and that's all they're mad about. Also, I never noticed how "Quality" wasn't a part of the machine, that's a really cool detail.

How I took the 5th wall:
Shows are expected to constantly one-up themselves. How do you one-up breaking the 4th wall? By breaking the 5th wall! Doesn't matter that this isn't a thing, just do it.

It would be really f*cked up if they ended the show with them going back in time and to when rick asked morty to pass the screw driver and fixed every thing making the show an endless loop.

Hands down my favorite lines ever come from this episode. The first was "you watch youbtubers reacting to other youtubers, ill decide how meta this gets." And "don't worry morty, nothing out there is cannon"

this reminds me of the Community episode that starts with a song about how they're going to start being less crazy and more relatable to all audiencies and ends with Jeff atacking everyone with a fireaxe after being poisened with monkey gas.

The 6th Wall: finding the cosmic beings are also story-based with beings writing stories about THEM.
