You just convinced me to go matte as I always have. Around 15 years ago laptop screens used to be glossy, they switched to matte for a reason!

Now with the Asus next to the window and the Samsung on the other side, the Samsung is pretty damn good. There's no reason to bash on this particular Matte screen as much as people have been.

The reflections in that position are just as annoying as the Samsung being placed by the window in his previous vid, not to mention the slight purple/magenta tint going on because of the light hitting the monitor (and how the LEDs in QD-OLED panels are positioned). So I reiterate what I said in his other vids, you shouldn't really be using an OLED monitor in bright rooms, for any coating.

Also remember that these monitors can be tweaked in their settings to fit the picture you want!

That being said, they're both great, there are advantages and disadvantages to both so I advise you do some research before making a choice, and you can take the screen coating out of the equation because Ben Geskin shows how they are in typical environments very well. Get which ever one fills your needs and fits your budget, and enjoy! :)

Damn! Those reflections on the glossy screen are awful, but the colors and clarity are better.
Why can't they just make a screen with the clarity of a glossy one, but without the reflections and grain on white? 😅

What a difference being closer to the window makes. On the left in a prior video the g80 looked worse, it looks absolutely fantastic now

People were bashing matte for being terrible when it was just the placement that was the issue. Glossy doesn't look too good either in that spot. Thanks for the comparison OP.

This video pushed me to get the g80sd. Eventho asus looks slightly better, i think the reflections would drive me insane. The g80sd is about 600€ here with some personal cashbacks i got. I just hope the software is not a pain. I dont feel like rebooting a freezed screen. Did it ever go blackscreen on you midgame ? Or some glitchy stuff?? Thanks for the vids man, really helpful!

Don’t forget, u have to be more careful. If u have glossy screen. cleaning treatment is different.

People who lazy & careless, consider matte finish.

People who are neat & has great attention to details. Can consider glossy. Because u guys will take care the monitor, 100%.

If you watch movies in dark rooms and use it for gaming. Which would you take? I love the smart tv aspect of the Samsung and hate the legs of the ASUS If I got the ASUS I’d probably use a arm mount
