Way to go buddy! When I saw those rivets, I figured game over, but you made it very simple. Once removed, a little plastic piece fell out, which was the reason why the cord wouldn’t recoil. Placed the piece back in place and back in service.Thanks again and keep up the good work!!!

Great video! I have a similar Toro, and I couldn’t tell if the stainless steel things were rivets or hex head nuts. I was going to drill them out until this video showed how easy it is to dismantle the bigger top. Well done, and many thanks!

Thank you good sir; I also have a Toro of this vintage that had a frayed cord about to come apart. I looked at many videos, but none looked like my mower. This video showed a close enough version that I was able to replicate the easy to follow steps you outlined and now my mower has a new cord installed. Amazingly, I didn't end up with any extra parts; you produced a very detailed and well explained guide for which I am very thankful.

Johnny - thanks for this! I have pretty much the same model. I wanted to take the cover of the rewind starter off, but it is held on with rivets. I was not sure how deep into disassembly I would have to go. Thanks for showing me!

Good, straight to the point how-to video on replacing that model pull cord; fixing to pick up the same mower for $45 with a messed up pull cord, looking forward to fixing cord followed by prob cleaning the carb and have it ready for sale for next Spring:-)

My neighbors mower, which I'm fairly certain is the same model did the same thing. The core of the pull cord didn't actually break but the outer casing did. To me, that says it's not the cord but something wrong with the recoil.

Get a tripod so you can work and just have camera standing on its own but you did that !
