I know you did this six years ago... but this crushed it! Thanks for putting this up.. I'd still be messing with that coil if it wasn't for you.

My daughter's boyfriend took the pull starter apart after the cord broke. He just left the parts scattered around the carport. This was very helpful to get everything back together and working again.

it’s been like half a month that I’ve been trying to find someone to fix my lawnmower the grass is so tall, when all I had to do was this. Thank you.

Hey, just wanted to say that I have watched dozens of videos on rewinding the pull cord spring. This one is absolutely the best one! Thanks!

My son ended up with a go kart. I used to work on dirt bikes, but minimal so I was at a loss for helping. He noticed the pull string wasn’t recoiling and before I knew it was happening I walked out to the shop and he had the whole thing taken apart! Together we put everything back together, realized the issue, realized which part needed to be fixed and replaced, all from this video thank you so much!

Thank you for your excellent help. I took my Tecumseh recoil starter 20 miles to the local lawn mower shop and he said he could not get parts to repair it. I came home and ordered a spring but thought I would sit down and watch the video. My wife and I had it fixed and running in less than an hour. Changed the oil and mowed the lawn. Tecumseh 6.5 HP, 25 years and still runs like new!

I'm convinced this is the only demonstration of this kind that is helpful. I had to reach a record high of watching what seems to be millions of videos searching for answers for weeks now and I just want to say you're a Godsend! I've went thru so many springs I've bought a long with the other parts needed and was about to throw in the towel and just buy a whole lawn mower and set this one on fire. Lord thank you for this man!!!!

Rock and roll! Boy I tinkered with this thing for over an hour and couldn't figure out it. The hooks facing the same way made all the difference. Thanks for the knowledge homie

Hey man. Thank you so much for elaborating that fact that the spring hooks need to face the same way. There are a lot of videos out there on how to recoil the pull start but none of them mention the spring hooks being the same way around. Your a legend 😁🤜

Thanks a ton for the tutorial man! FYI to anyone watching this video, don't forget the most important step in this process. Make sure the two "v" ends of the spring are facing the same way, it's super important as he points out.

My dad was trying to fix his lawnmower for hours. Sweat and cursewords were involved.

After I watched your video, I was able to help him fix it.

Dad has never before looked this happy to mow the lawn. 😁

Thanks a million!

Some people know that it's important to have good audio in a video and to keep the camera steady and focused in order to show in detail exactly what must be done to complete a project. Most people don't have a clue. Da P.A, you are one of the good guys. Thanks for the video, three years later!

I'm embarrassed to say I'm a qualified mechanic and I needed to find a video to help me out...😬
I attempted to repair it and it just didn't work, I knew I was making a mistake somewhere because it wouldn't tension for me.. you saying that the v's need to be the same direction did the trick! Every day is a school day ;)
Thanks man, and greetings from Ireland 👊🏻

I was just cutting my yard which was completely overgrown, and to be fair, I have not cleaned my mower deck very well over time so starting my Honda mower has become difficult. I was almost finished when the mower stalled again. This time when I went to pull the cord, it didn't start and the cord didn't recoil. This video makes the repair look fairly straightforward, like maybe even I could do it. So once it cools down (the mower and the 96 degree temperature outside) I will remove the pull cord assembly and will re-tension it as you showed. I was already frustrated with the heat, the mower breaking and the possible expense and time to have it repaired. Thank you so much for posting this!

Huge Help!!! Rented a log splitter - on the first pull the cord broke. After pulling off the recoiler and replacing the cord, the recoiler didn't work and I thought my work was done. Found your video and it saved me big-time. thanks for the simple instructions and great tips. 👏
