The Fine Brothers are apologizing to their fans and have stopped a recent project they just announced. The project called React World, caused a lot of ire from their fans and the famous YouTubers have responded. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian hosts of The Young Turks discuss.

Do you think The Fine Brothers did the right thing? Let us know in the comments below.

“Just a few days after they announced their new React World venture, the Fine Brothers have canceled the program and rescinded all their trademark claims for React.

The Fine Brothers, who have more than 13 million subscribers to their channel, had aimed to institute a new channel that would license their React brand to any interested creators. It's something they likened to the way television develops shows across countries.

After making their announcement, the Internet fired back, calling into question the Fine Brothers' intention with the program. They pointed out that they have registered several trademarks across the React brand, including Teens React and Elders React, which commenters felt was in opposition to their claims that they didn't "own the React genre" as a defense for their move to promote React World licensing. This sparked discussion of trademark law as it relates to YouTube, saw their channels hemorrhage subscribers, and now the Fine Brothers have weighed in by canceling all their trademark claims and the React World program.

"We realize we built a system that could easily be used for wrong," the Fine Brothers wrote on Medium. "We are fixing that. The reality that trademarks like these could be used to theoretically give companies (including ours) the power to police and control online video is a valid concern, and though we can assert our intentions are pure, there’s no way to prove them."

There is a reason why corporations want to control the internet so badly, because look at how powerful we are, we made a big company fall to its knees pleading forgiveness in a matter of days, we ruin reputations in a matter of seconds, and we ignite worldwide movements and revolutions overnight and all it takes just a few keyboard clicks. What man/organization wouldn't want to have an unstoppable force like the internet?

Sure when we are idle and distracted we don't do very much but when we focus on something, nothing stands a chance to the might of the almighty internet. If anything this incident should serve as a reminder to everyone in the world how powerful the internet is.

Hey everyone, I have just Trademarked "Trademark" therefore all trademarks are trademarked by me. So please let all companies know their trademarks are my property and I demand 90% of their money if they want to continue using my Trademark.

They think they made a mistake only because they are getting dislikes and are being un subscribed and losing money. That's the only reason...they still think they own everyone

At this point, it's kind of too late. The Fine Bros. got destroyed harder than the Xbox One when it was first announced with the bullshit restrictions.

Oh yeah, now they "apologize"! Once they saw the amount of people who unsubscribed. They can stick it! I won't bother subscribing anymore.

How did they respond in the right way? In their "update" video they were completely disrespectful and talked down to their audience the whole time. Then after realizing they weren't going to win this and that soo many people were unsubbing they posted a pathetic apology on some random website from a link on their twitter. They didn't even give the respect of doing a video, instead they took down the "react world" update vids. They are just going to try and go on acting like this never happened. In no way imo have they handled this well at all!

They are the worst. How can you say : Hey, we now own the react part of YouTube! WTF?!?! You didn't invent it, you weren't the first to do this. So why would you "own" it?!

No, I don't agree, they did not do a "great job in responding"....greedy people do not deserve any pat on the backs. They just didn't want to lose any money.

Well, I have to disagree with TYT on this one. They didn't realize their idea was bad and stop it because its the right decision. They did it because they were losing subscribers. If people didn't unsub the whole React World thing would still exist.

I wish people had this kind of passion and power against government corruption

The first video they made about React World clearly shows their intentions were everything but pure. They clearly stated we should not support youtubers who were using their concept. But after the storm, they did what they could to save themselves. They had to do it.

When did they apologize? All they did was blame us for "the confusion" nothing about that they were sorry or whatever. They're just pissed we saw through their BS

Give me a break. They apologized because people started unsubscribing not because what they thought they were doing was wrong.

Actually they didn't apologize at all. They just felt sad because they claimed they were 'not understood right'

The annoying part of their licensing is that YouTube takes down videos without the user being able to respond or disagree to the removals. With YouTube, there is no debate allowed whether something violated a copyright. I think that is where most of the anger comes from.

This is not an apology, this is damage control.
