Whale slams into boat off New Hampshire coast

A whale slammed into a boat off the coast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, on Tuesday, sending two people overboard.

The boaters who captured this footage said they were able to pull the two people to safety. The humpback whale was also unharmed.

The whale was feeding on bunker. Bunker is a baitfish that will migrate in schools. The whale couldn’t see through the schools of bunker and hit the boat. Whales are very smart and it is very rare for this to happen.

FYI: The video loops the impact three times and then at the end shows the young guy’s boat having rescued the two men on the overturned boat. Finally a young guy who takes action.

The kid wasn’t panicking, he was trying to get the boat to turn around to help the person on the other boat.

The boat that rescued them was manned by two brothers. They did fantastic! They steered TOWARD the direction of the whale to pull the men out of the water. Very brave! 😳🐳🛥️

Accidentally!!! You see the herring flying. The whale was just eating and is just as shocked that it hit something!!

This is exactly why it’s important to keep 100 yard distance from the Whales. This happens very suddenly as the whales are brilliant navigators, but obviously something was in his visual line and he didn’t see the boat was there from murky waters. Humpbacks are very docile creatures. Out here on the West Coast, where I live, they swim very gently among kayakers and paddle borders. I know the people are safe thankfully and hopefully the whale is ok too.

That whale is not intentionally attacking the boat ...it was rizing to feed, boat was in its way ..that all ...folks should learn more about feeding seasons and honestly stay clear of their habitat during that time .This young man whipped into action to save that man, good for him, pray that man survived .
