Checking For Gas Leaks Old School

Cheap parts made in China come broken right off the shelf. Always check for gas leaks with leak solution or soapy water sprayed on the threads. Never do what I do.... I am not smart.

A friend and I helped a buddy install lighting and his hunting cabin about 20 years ago. The lighting consisted of a 10 pound gas cylinder that was up to the stove in the light. We used exactly the same test for leaks. Everything still there.

Better to light early as opposed to later.

Doing that won't cause much to go kaboom unless you turned the gas on for several hours. There is no oxygen in the pipe to react with the gas.
