What a great story that sounds like mine. Graduated with a major in music, started working for banks, then thru a temp agency I ended up working for ExxonMobil, retired at 55 with 20 years. I very happy and I'm 71 years young. I have a great life and enjoying every day. Also don't forget to have God in your life, can't do without Him. Much success to. I'm a subscriber to you. God bless ya sir.

Never settle and pray about it is key. You have to ask God for direction. I went from working in a restaurant, to warehouse work and now working for Tesla. It took years, BUT I NEVER GAVE UP!!

Thanks so much for your transparency. I recently graduated with my bachelors. Thankfully, a few weeks after graduation, I received a job offer. The salary was for about 47K, I wanted to make at least 50 starting out. They were unwilling to negotiate. It was a bit discouraging, however, I’m just going to use this opportunity as a steppingstone to reach the bigger goal, and gain some hands-on work experience. The media has convinced people that success can happen overnight, but that is never the case. It takes time. Thank you for reminding me I’m not the only one.

You’re always dropping these gems just on time. I switched from call center to HR in 2 years. I recently got an offer but wasn’t excited about the salary but I reminded myself right now I’m getting the experience I’ll get the salary I want soon and u just confirmed it. Bless up!

I am a black man from the projects in the south who now lives in New York and has earned a masters degree in business management from a top university in the country. This has resonated with me because we have a similar journey story.

Somehow this showed up in my recommended suggestions. My degree was in information systems and thought I’d be an IT PM (it’s still possible). My first corporate job was at a reputable investment bank, but it was in operations. So an impressive company, but not a glamorous/prestigious job. It also didn’t help that the firm took advantage of temps so I made significantly less than the full time employees. What I will say is that it gave me a chance to learn what the traders do and offered lots of networking opportunities. The traders also gave me tons of tips in case I wanted to be one in the future. I was at the firm for 2 years but around the year mark I started applying to jobs in the DMV area where I’m from. I got rejected for all of them and it wasn’t until I started applying to firms in NYC that I got multiple interviews. It was a big risk making that move and despite being offered 6 figures I was still scared about the increased cost of living. I’m still pretty early in the job, but I definitely see more room for growth.

I really loved your introduction. Down to earth, humble, and genuine. Thank you, man. I am unemployed right now after quitting a job from burnout. I am wrapping up a degree in tech so I am really switching industries.

God bless.

I like your videos. I'm a somewhat early retiree at 60. People aren't realistic about salaries, unless maybe you're in a technical field or professional health care. The internet has made everyone think they will make 100, 000 out the gate. Even 50, 000. My company was barely paying engineers right out of college 55, 000.

I graduated college with a bachelors in English education, taught 7th grade English for 1.5 years, then stayed home to care for my newborn son. 3 years after leaving teaching, I have a daughter too and I'm switching into tech by starting a master in cybersecurity next month. I've lived outside of Atlanta since graduating college. I just visited Google Atlanta last Friday because our neighbor invited my family to tour the building. He works in sales. I really liked the atmosphere, especially the food haha. I'm inspired both by visiting and your channel as I start my new journey.

This was dope man, thanks for the transparency here. That's a great story and proud to see how far you come and congratulations on the success you've had and will continue to have going forward. Something you said towards the end of the video made me smile - "you gotta start somewhere and have someone who's willing to believe in you and see the potential that you have and see that you're going to make it somehow".

I'm a Clinical Research Coordinator at one of the top comprehensive cancer centers and I finally found that person (my supervisor) who believes in my potential, but more importantly - believes in me and that is such a great and wonderful feeling. I damn sure didn't get it with my last position at Emory, so I'm blessed to say it's a breath of fresh air and change. Still working to get like you in terms of salary haha, but I know it'll come and I can't rush that.

This video is fantastic. I have a degree in business as well as a good amount of experience in accounting, but only make in the high 20’s a year. I have been looking for the next move in my career because I feel stuck. Market is a bit rough, but I keep applying. Having a few interviews, resulting in “NO”, can really be a gut punch, but I keep at it. Your video really motivates me because you and many others have experienced the same thing. All it takes is one “YES”, and then the rough journey will have been worth it. Thanks Corey!

Thank you for posting this, Corey! This video proves that career growth isn't linear and gives me hope for the future. I started working as a software engineer after college and pivoted into UX. Unfortunately, I had to take a break to focus on issues with my health, and I'm trying to break back into UX in this market. It has not been easy, but my journey doesn't end here. Google has always been a goal of mine, and I hope that our paths will cross one day!

Excellent video, I’m an older experienced DEI and award winning Early-Career Program leader. I’ve been impacted by the changes in tech and I’m starting over myself. As others have mentioned this video was right on time. I decided to embrace the restart but it’s def hard. Being a black man and then you have to deal with age discrimination (most people don’t realize at age 40 you are in a protected class and age discrimination increases around this time). Appreciate you, you keeping us inspired.

I really enjoyed this video ‼️ I feel like I’m the stage where you started at. I’m struggling to find good work, so I’ve decided to go back to school and finish my last two years of my bachelor’s degree. I needed this today

Great video and love the transparency. Shows it doesn’t matter where you started but how you finish. From a little town to the big city.
