If Story is so important then go back and redo the sequels. Literally 95% of the fans would LOVE you for doing so.

Agreed. Don't start with a release date. Start with a story.

"Story" is not a thing you make up while filming

This certainly used to be the case at Lucasfilm...

Man, they’re really pretending Willow doesn’t exist, huh?

"Story Drives Everything?". Let us know when you start to do that. I won't hold my breathe.

It really should be 'character drives story'. I think they got it backwards somehow.

Treat children as if they’re adults, and refrain from treating adults like children.

For the love of god reduce your usage of the Volume by 80%, and bring Tony Gilroy into every production meeting going forward.

Yeaaah...a lot of thought went into the sequels story.

"What do we want to say to the world and how can we use Star Wars to say that." This is a well intentioned but really destructive way of thinking about storytelling. You don't "Use" a story, you tell it. Don't start with an ideology then force a story to fit that, start with a compelling story and characters then, if it enhances the story, weave ideas into the narrative. This is the ideological version of chosing a release date then writing a script.

so what story exactly was driving the Star Wars sequels? Was it a blind man driving off a cliff?
