They put the table there for a reason. Everybody in the room was struggling writing on that paper so it took a intelligent/ambitious man that didn’t care what the people in the room say or think of him to drag the table to him. He worked smart and not hard.

Recently I saw this movie with my 13 year old daughter, just to show her one of my fave childhood movies. When J pulled over the table with this long squeak she laughed so hard^^

Me as kid: Oh he is so dumb, but it´s hilarious. But they will never pick him.
Me as an adult: He is actually right about everything and they should pick him.

He showed how he could adapt his environment to his advantage and wasn't held back by a need to fit in. That takes creativity and the courage to be himself. He read the context of the room before he decided to take action. That shows concientiousness. He also doesnt feel compelled to needlessly respect authority, he thinks for himself.

This scene is possibly my favorite scene of ANY movie I've ever seen. Captain America's face at 0:48 is priceless. You can tell he's trying so hard not to laugh. 🤣🤣

Greatest scene in the film which explains difference between "Education" and "Smarts"
In the film, you have an ENTIRE gaggle of highly trained men who don't ask questions, don't contrive grievances and don't bother looking for practical solutions. The soldiers are given chairs that serve no ergonomic purpose, But James is able to discern practical solution by stealing a table. At the shooting range, soldiers empty mags firing on all creatures. While J fires one round and largely gives no qualms about suspicious characters; As a cop he's taught to control his fire in public.
