I'll go for the XM4 for the bass.
I don't want an extreme bass, because I listen to a a lot of different genres of music, but when listening to dubstep, I want to feel it.

XM5 sounds very clear with well tuned amount of decent bass. XM4 bass is stronger than XM5 but not as clear as XM5. Get XM4 for portability and Bass. XM5 for clarity

Xm4 brighter and sharper, metal sound

Yesterday I went to the store and take them a look.
The sound quality it's pretty decent, but the comfort you feel on the head it's not descriptable, something you can only apreciate once you put them on.

keep in mind that the sound quality it's "decent" but, that "decent" only applies before the audio adjustment on the app.

If you have XM4 no need to update however, If you are planning to get new headphone recommend XM5.

Got XM5s, so bad i returned them. I had XB900ns and thought id be a die hard sony audio fan for life after 4 years of them. The XB900n sounds better than a newer more expensive headphone

I got the XM5's. got them at same price of XM4's (store deal). Amazing comfort, ANC and microphone quality is on another level.

Listening with the xm5’s and I can definitely tell the difference with clarity between the two

I used xm3 xm4 xm5. And i can tell that xm4 is the best for the price. Anc feels almost the same, But the problem with xm5 is that it's sound is not as clear as xm4 and xm3 are. I took me a while getring used to it. It's due to smaller driver inside. But xm5's design and phone call quality is just amazing.

Just got the xm5 because my xm4 battery died. First feeling tells me the xm4 sounded better in terms of bass and clearness though the xm5 fit my ears and head much better. Will stick to xm5 mostly due to comfort reasons and just give it a try with the sound.

Xm5 got more boom and thump. Listening with xm4s. Dont feel the need to upgrade

For me personally, the XM4s sound better because the highs are more prominent and the bass is punchier. The XM5 are very balanced, but sound a bit too dull and warm for me. This can be remedied with an equalizer, but personally I would still take the XM4 because they are cheaper and have larger drivers, because powerful bass and clear highs are very important to me.

XM4 sounds better you can hear the mids better xm5 just a littel bit more clearer but not that mutch
