The default tuning on these is ridiculously muddy- with boosted bass throughout the entire bass range. There is EQ in the app, but it doesn't have a slider in the bass range. Reducing "clear bass" (a separate adjustment from EQ) does help, in addition to boosting some aspects of midrange and treble.

I've always preferred the Sennheiser Momentum range instead. I much prefer there design, sound quality and there build quality is second to none.

Its funny. Now they say the sound of XM4 is decent and XM5 is great. But when XM6 comes later, the XM5 will be decent and on par with XM4, and XM6 will be great. It has always been like that.

Had a XM4, those were nice headphones. But I didnt like how the sensor was exposed and got covered with steam during the summer. And from what I heard, the XM4 hindges can break after some time of use including creaking noises.

Now with the XM5's, though they are now bigger and non-foldable, they are still good in noise cancelling and sound after EQing. They dont have the notches while adjusting justike the XM4's, which makes it better and make it sound less cheap.

I can't decide between the xm4, xm5 and the bose quietcomfort se. Which headphones should I get? For me it is important that it is comfortable but also that the quality is there. Which ones should I not miss?

I have a the MX4, wonderful headphones, battery life is amazing, sound is good, noise canceling works even better than my Bose quiet comfort 45 but the MX4 has a factory/design problem, they eventually in some point they going to start to doing popping noises following of a piercing high pitch noise. Starts whistling in your ears (feedback) piercing noise. Sony instructions are useless, contact support lead you to reset the headphones and the true is Sony dont do nothing about it, in my opinion I recommend pass from the MX5 and MX4 because I heard the MX5 has the same problem.
EDIT: The only way to ride of the high pitch noise is turning off the noise canceling which defeat the purpose of a noise canceling headphone.
Are videos and instructions online showing cleaning the electret microphone located inside the ear cup resolve the problem but actually no.

Alr I still have no clue what ima buy I’ve only used AirPods and beats fit pro I music like drake Travis etc. love the beats fit pros and the sounds I just want some over the ear headphones to listen to music and play games I’m not a super audiophile just want something louder i guess. Should I waste the money on the 5s or would I be good with the 4s

I owned the M4's and they broke after 9 months. At this point both the ear pieces are dangling by the cord off of the headphones because swivels on both sides have broken (there is a lot of cheap plastic involved). That isn't even getting into the high pitched whine I get when the sound cancelling is on (which many others have reported).

Never buy Sony headphones they won't last.

Bought these had them for a while and they’re crap. Sorry but these r not real audiophiles talking about headphones they’re just going with status quo on “what’s the best”. The sound quality was sub par and the anc very annoying. Sold them in the end
