As someone who owns a pair of the XM5’s that test doesn’t do them justice AT ALL. As a matter of fact, I just got mine today because I decided to return my USB-C AirPod Pro 2’s and get the Sony WF-1000XM5’s instead, because even though I do LOVE the APP 2’s a lot especially when paired with my iPhone 13 Pro Max, however the 3 areas I feel like they could use improvement are: ANC (although they are GREAT all things considered), Battery Life at 6 hrs which isn’t terrible by any means but as someone who suffers from severe tinnitus which I ended up with as a result of my military service between weapons (During my stint in the Army before my
Unexpected medical discharge) and hot pitting F-16’s, and A-10 Warthog’s (which means fueling them as they are burning their engines 10 ft from your ears during my time in the Air Force. So as a nearly 40 year old fully disabled (in VA ratings terms) combat veteran who deals with that among other physical challenges, I wear MY ANC HEADPHONES/EARBUDS ALL DAY EVERY DAY. That’s not hyperbole or an exaggerated statement….i legit wear them from the moment I wake up UNTIL THEY DIE AND THEN I CHARGE THEM AND PUT THEM BACK IN. Outside of my bi-weekly shower…LMFAO JK. I actually shower every single day and I also soak in my jetted tub to help my back daily as well. I think you get my point. The last thing and quite possibly the most important part of any headphones/earbuds…the SOUND QUALITY!! I WANT MORE BASS THAN WHAT THE AIRPOD PROS CAN DO EVEN WITH THEM BEING TWEAKED IN A HIDDEN SETTING (that actually makes a difference plus if you pair that with the Spotify EQ you can make them sound MUCH BETTER). However having said that, the Sony XM5’s BLOW THE AIRPOD PRO 2’s OUT OF THE WATER!!

the thing about all of these earbuds is they're not gonna sound good of the EQ (yk the thing that most of them have) isn't set t your liking... I can confirm even tho the XM5 sound different than the XM4 the sound QUALITY once you get the sound SIGNATURE to your liking is way way better and I can say that bc I have used the XM4 for a long time and just got the XM5 a couple weeks ago

I think xm5 are good but you have to use ldac to get crystal clear audio not aac

as a sound engineer, Bose sound a little too much on the high end, sony xm5's (which i use personally) are more on the base side, but sound so much better when EQ is adjusted in the app. The bose were barely better than the senheizers which sounded a little crackly compared to the xm5's. the xm4's have their downsides as they're for people with big ears. i would really recommend the sony wf1000-xm5's if you have smaller ears. a little uncomfortable at first as they're my first pair of in ear headphones, but the comfort gets better the more you use them.

Just from sound I'd say xm4 or quiet comfort 2 but with the other features I'd choose the xm5 especially because I have the xm5 headphones

I usually use the lowest fidelity when testing sound quality. FR how are you going to test SONY earbuds without using LDAC?
