MK8 GTI Get's Destroyed By MK7 GTI!

The MK7 & MK8 are very similar in the way the MK5 & MK6 were. The problem with the MK8 is VW found ways to decrease costs all around in ways you can feel. They made it known they would do this after dieselgate and they went so far as to remove the interior illumination on some controls in 17’ MK7 models. As of MK8 they got rid of the badged engine cover, hood insulation, and struts. They also made the infotainment both more prominent and more difficult to use, because less controls & illumination save money. If you didn’t own a 7 the 8 will be fine, but if you did, you should probably keep your fingers crossed for the MK9. I was the owner of a 2015 MK7 and while I wished I had a 16’ with the upgraded infotainment after driving a MK8 I went a completely different route and bought a CPO Giulia. By no means is the MK8 bad, it was still on my list as my MK7 lasted 140K miles with few issues. What I can say though is that my Giulia has lived to 80K miles with fewer issues than my MK7, even if they were small.

I saw a video of someone swapping the it could have been a mk8's stock tires with a mk 7's stock tires, and just swapping tires let the older car get ahead by a couple seconds.
