I think it's interesting how Rick actually considers his over narcissistic and mean spirited manners to be his toxic side. But Morty considers everything that makes him look weak or like a coward to be his biggest flaws. Talks about how Rick has a good nature behind all the nihilistic madness and Morty has the potential to be a master in manipulating people and achieving power, but his insecurities prevent him.

Kind of reminds me of Soma. How Simon kept getting copied, so from his perspective, he was just transferring bodies, but in reality he was making duplicates, leaving the previous version of himself to die

I kinda felt an existential crisis like feeling watching this episode. Like who exactly are the toxins? Rick and Morty as we know them? Or is the actual Rick and Morty the ones that left the spa?

I think the machine merely identified and removed what Rick and Morty believed to be "toxic" about themselves, rather than what actually IS toxic.
