Let's face it, we all get older. It can be hard to look in the mirror and see a tired, wrinkled, gray haired reflection of yourself looking in the mirror.

But if we shift our perspective on what getting older means, maybe we can learn to embrace the aging process.

At 79 I thank God for my ability to still be able to go for my walks & still live an independent life! Thank you for your wisdom!!

Hi Elliot, I’m 62 and my greatest fear about aging is not so much about getting old, but being unwell or frail. There are worse things than dying. I work in aged care and I see this each day people wishing they were not here because they have very little quality of life.

Well said Elliot! I’m 58, still working, still running, still enjoying my family and friends, still loving life. Long may it continue x

I sometimes look at myself and I think wow, old! And now 45 seems so young to me! Perspective shift! But I do yoga and meditate daily and, while I get tired more easily, I am strong and healthy!

I recall saying to my Father in Law on his 80th Birthday, " Wow, you're 80!". He replied angrily, " NO, I'm RON".

Amazing! Life changing perspective. On my Dads 75th Birthday I said to him, Happy birthday Old man- he said to me… well .. you will be blessed to make it to my age, with a wink 😉 I’m 48 and it was that comment that made me realize the Blessings of AGING! Not everyone makes it there. So congratulations to the Man who wrote in on this question- you are blessed!!! Smile and wish everyone the same. ❤️

It’s not the getting older part that scares me, it’s the fear of not knowing what’s to come and the fear of being alone forever. Most of my friends are now in long term relationships. I have never had a relationship that’s lasted one year. I’m just afraid of being left behind. I am fairly successful in the aspect of financial success. But that doesn’t really mean anything to me. I just don’t wanna grow old alone.

I'm 54 but I sometimes feel like I'm 74 or at least 64. Getting older really sucks especially when you feel like you haven't accomplished much in your life.

LOVE your point of view, Elliott! I have most certainly struggled with getting older in some ways, BUT, I LOVE that I am constantly discovering "newness" in me...and even a more loving, more kind, and more compassionate person...Life's experiences....good and bad...Are now paying off, in surprising and delightful ways.

Elliott, I think that it is 💃🏽 wonderfully wonderful 💃🏽 that you have decided to make a new video regarding aging. I think that what you will have to say will help SO MANY‼️ I also know that this new journey of yours will be just as rewarding as your clinical channel, if not MORE‼️ God bless you for reaching out to help a group that is so often forgotten about. Which is interesting in itself because the very way that people look down on aging, one day (if blessed) they may be “the aged” in the future, and they would NOT want that (to be looked down on) for themselves‼️ It’s like being a pedestrian (at some point, we all are) we see them when we are driving but, we try to go around them or hurry them out of the way when war are driving but, at some point, we’ll be walking and we wouldn’t someone to hurry us out of the way. Society NEEDS MORE BE INTROSPECTIVE‼️ I’m a new member of SFU.

God Bless 🙏🏾 You‼️

How timely! I live in a community of 55 and older. Just TODAY, I was talking to our fitness director about what I can do to bring my SF wellness coaching skills to my fellow residents. And of course, aging is a key focus in all of this. I most definitely subscribe!

Thanks Elliott for sharing your thoughts about aging! Much like you, I love that I'm alive and aging well at 68. Can't wait to see what I'll become or look like at 69!

That's an awesome perspective to pass on to older clients and to keep in mind as I age myself.

I'm still fairly young myself, but this gives me hope for growing older. It won't be all that bad!

In addition, ALL of my family of origin were robbed of seeing themselves age....one sister of mine passed at 47 years old. My other sister was only 59 years old. My only daughter, was a baby and didn't even get to experience life, as we have been blessed!

It's mostly people around you who talk about your age and assuming you're too old to understand the time we live in. I call it 'the arrogance of youth'. The life experience you have is wisdom and in your heart you're still young. It's impossible to explain to young people. I'm 74 years old and have seen it all. The good and the bad in people. What keeps me going is my curiosity about life, the world, science, art, human experiences. Growing old is not easy. It takes courage. Like I said: the worst thing are younger people around you who treat you like a fool. They are clueless. If they're lucky they might reach your age and have your wisdom.
