Preparing for Hardmode (Terraria 1.4 Beginner's Guide Series)

In this episode of my Terraria version 1.4 - Beginner's Guide Series, I explain several activities you may want to complete in pre-Hardmode to make you fully prepared to handle the new challenges Hardmode brings to the table. Included are how to prepare for the Hardmode Crimson/Corruption - Hallow "V", as well as how to protect key areas from future biome spread and contamination, and much, much more!!

Regarding the NPC arrangement shown at 10:30 - there are lots of alternative ways to arrange your NPCs to, for example, get the best average happiness across all your NPCs. I, however, prefer to get a few key NPCs to their max happiness, and honestly don't worry about the happiness of other NPCs that I generally don't buy from anyways. This arrangement gets max happiness for the Goblin Tinkerer (easily the most expensive NPC in the game) for the best discount on his reforging service. The Angler also gets max happiness in order to boost chances of getting good rewards from him.

Most of the other NPCs are also generally pretty happy, though not all will be happy enough to sell the pylons at the listed locations. And if you are planning a big purchase from a specific NPC, you can always re-arrange them to make the purchase, then set them back.

The other benefit of this arrangement is that by having at least 3 NPCs at each location, it will create a village that suppresses mob spawning in the area, and also makes it easier to re-locate NPCs and still be able to use the pylon. Add in a few pets, and you'll be all set!

Hey man, thanks for doing this series, very helpful even for a vet like me. Actually finished the game pre 1.4 with a classic char and Expert world and just getting back to the game this time Mediumcore char and Master world, will be tackling Hardcore-Master after getting the feel of the game again and it's newer mechanics. Your tutorials greatly helps me getting to know the newer mechanics and some things I didn't know before.

Thanks for the video! I'd like to add three small improvments :
- Try to build the upgrade of architect gizmo pack instead, Hand of creation
- While marking biome chest in the dungeon, remove water candle for lower spawn rate in the dungeon
- Use the water candle to have higher spawn in the cavern mob farm
