The Old Republic Era of Star Wars Explained in Under a Minute

The Old Republic era of Star Wars probably starts about twenty thousand years before the events of A New Hope, but right now that’s unconfirmed, so it could start later. Those are the dates we know that an alliance was first formed between the planets Coruscant, Corellia, Alderaan, and more, which created the foundation for what would become the Republic. This is also around the time that hyperspace travel wasn’t necessarily first discovered, but it at least became more widespread. This era goes all the way until five hundred years before the Battle of Yavin, so it’s easily one of the longest eras on the timeline. It’s during this time that we see the creation of the Sith and their ongoing war with the Jedi. That begins around five thousand years BBY when the Sith splinter *out* of the Jedi during a time called the Hundred Year Darkness. The galaxy sees the rise of the Sith Empire and leaders like Darth Revan and Darth Bane. The Sith Wars last for four thousand years, until the dark siders are nearly destroyed and thought to be extinct. In the midst of that, the Jedi also come across Mandalorians, who start a war of their own. A Mandalorian Jedi named Tarre Vizsla constructs the darksaber, and the Jedi build their primary temple on Coruscant. When the wars come to an end, the Old Republic is reorganized into the Galactic Republic. #starwars

The Star Wars Book ( from Hidalgo himself) and other canon material stated that it started c. 25000 BBY by around the same time of the Jedi Order was formed. Cato Neimodia itself joined this alliance in 25000 BBY and Neimodia in 22000 BBY for example. The Ordu Aspectu shism is setted in 20000 BBY but that's another story. We have many more canon material that tell us The Old Republic is at least 25000 years old. A reference book Star Wars Timelines that many, including myself, bought some months ago, is full of errors and I hope they will be fixed.

Because they destroyed it. They turned it into something it should never have been. Bigger than it was. Should've called it something else. It's kind of like how much chrome can you put on something before that some thing disappears and all you see is chrome. That's what happened to Star Wars. The Old Republic was created by Bioware. There isn't anyone called Darth Bane in the old republic or whatever that jedi was called. And btw since the old republic isn't canon every explanation you come with is fan fiction - nothing else
