I love how Malgus in the recent cinematic shows that being a Sith is not just lightning, red lightsabers and yellow eyes, its also the art of deception and spreading the darkness within self onto others

Malgus was the Vader of his time. Absolute legend of a character.

0:49, just a quick correction if anyone in the comments are confused, that was said a little bit backwards. BBY is "Before the Battle of Yavin(Episode 4), not "Battles Before Yavin, " as that would be counting battles instead of years before or after a specific battle.

When the Old Republic trailers came out all those years ago and I saw Malgus I was instantly hooked on the character

These videos are much appreciated bro. As someone who has never played The Old Republic (online) it's cool to learn about Malgus. I've always loved all TOR cinematic trailers.

The Hyperspace War stuff is DOPE. I love those old Tales of the Jedi comics! Have a lot of them. Exar Kun & Ulic were my favorite from the series that I read.

I am always, ALWAYS here for Old Republic content. Malgus feels like he has so much story still yet to be told, and I want it all.

I would like to see you compare Malgus to other Sith Lords such as Vader and see how they stack up

Malgus is an absolute BA. Big reason I love playing Swtor. Such an amazing character. We need some The Old Republic Series!

Canonically speaking, Since Darth Nihilus and Darth Revan are canon, Darth Malgus could be canon aswell, he was in a deleted concept in the rise of Skywalker, so I'll say most likely, and they don't have backstories yet, canon works differently than Legends, so it'll be interesting to see their backstories in canon. Also if you didn't know:

Darth Revan was made canon in a deleted scene of the clone wars, he essentially told The Son what to do, he now also has his own canon wookiepedia article.

Darth Nihilus was a statue in the rise of Skywalker, some fans pointed that out. Don't know which one tho.

Great video man. You did well covering The Old Republic lore! You should make videos like this more often. The only issue I had is that you skipped the rise of the Sith Triumvirate, which was lead by Darth Traya and her two students, Darth Nihilus and Darth Sion. They gathered what remained of Revan & Malak’s forces after the Jedi Civil War and, with the help of Traya’s brilliant teachings and strategies, nearly wiped out the Jedi using stealth and bating tactics; less than 100 remained. This was the first Jedi Purge that took place before the Sacking of Coruscant and before Order 66.

Traya, like many Sith masters before her, was eventually betrayed by her apprentices and left for dead. She survived and took up her original name, Kreia, and sought a way to get revenge on her apprentices. This is also when she changed her philosophy and way of thinking. Having mastered both the Light and Dark sides of the Force, her eyes were opened to its true nature; and she hated it. So much so that Kreia wanted to destroy the Force. To “save” the galaxy from being enslaved by its will. The solution to both of her problems presented itself in the form of Meetra Surik, also known as The Exile.

Meetra’s story is a long one, and if anyone is interested, I highly advice playing Knights of the Old Republic 2 and reading the legends novel Revan, which tells the story of Revan & Meetra after the events of their games well (to a degree). But anyway, The Exile was a wound in the Force. It’s a long story, but through this, Kreia saw the potential to destroy all her enemies; including the Force itself. So she manipulated her. Kreia retrained Meetra and taught her to feel the Force again, and unleashed her new apprentice on Sion & Nihilus when the time was right. And when they were both dead, Kreia dawned the title of Darth Traya one last time and betrayed the Exile.

Traya went to the heart of Malachor V and gave her final student an ultimatum: either Meetra kills her, or Traya kills Meetra, and through her death, the Force itself. Meetra used everything Traya had taught her to defeat her former master, and saved the galaxy. I hope I did a good job of explaining without going too deep into everything 😅 I’m happy to answer questions in the comment section if anyone is curious to know more though 😁.

Malgus was actually undefeatable in his prime. He had removed every liability he had including his lover, fiancee or some might consider slave just in order to have no weaknesses. (For context read the old republic books or play kotor games)
