It makes me laugh how satisfyiing I find watching the way that beautiful axe slides through the wood and just shaves it! You've done such a great job with that design! Thank you!

That spoon blank preparation and in particular the hollowing out operation was simply stunning. It's one thing to watch it being done, quite another to do it yourself. Hats off to you sir!

That was very good. Thank you from the future. This was quite a while ago. Greetings from the lowlands of Maryland.

I’ve just bought one of these axes it arrived today, I thought I might have to sharpen it before use so I watched this video first, ….. straight out of the box cuts paper like a razor blade wow ! I’m very impressed with it thank you Robin.

great tip on the honing, i always struggle to find bits of leather wider than a belt, just tried it but with red jewellers honing compound and has worked like a treat. now i have no excuses guess ill go back to making turning blanks

Again, really well demonstrated. And nice to see an expert reduction for a spoon with the axe!

Thanks Robin, Simple and clear inexpensive materials too. I've just received one of your excellent carving axes. It's great! And it came with edge well protected from UK to Pennsylvania.
I've axed out three spoon blanks with more ease than with my heavier axe and now I like the one from you the most.

Great video! I went back and worked my HK on a 600 grit, and wow, what a difference! It's like brand new. Thanks for the pointers. Love your work.

Love my axe from you, novice sharpener, this is definitely something I'm going to be trying soon! Hope I can get it as sharp as you :)!

Hey Robin, greetings from Iraq!
Great video, wonderful new series of videos that you have produced.
With all the research that you have done for your book, which is great by the way, i wonder if you realise that you are, through these videos, laying down the history of our craft as we understand it now that will hopefully be referenced in years to come.
Thanks for taking the time to share these skills with the rest of us.
Mike
PS not sure if Sandra has sent my axe to you yet but i am really looking forward to getting some time with it when i get home.

I find with edged tools, especially if I'm a bit uncertain that day, that colouring the edge with a black felt tip will tell me how I'm doing for angle and coverage.

Robin, this is another fabulous video! You make it look so easy and having tried it, so did we ... after a few attempts. We haven't used the water stones since.

We couldn't find the self-adhesive wet and dry, but a little PVA works fine with the standard 'Motosave' sheets :-D

Time to do the drawknife (do you fancy doing a drawknife sharpening video?).

Thanks again.

Dammit man you make roughing out look so easy! Anyway great informative video I've just ordered one of your axes so knowing how to keep it sharp would be a good idea.
