Thanks a lot for showing how to learn the beagle those tricks. I will learn my beagle that cute sitting trick. Our beagle learned the play dead trick in a few minutes. But as soon as we did not practice it every day, it is difficult to get her to do it properly. Or she is so eager about the treat that she doesn’t have the time to fully roll over. Instead she does it half way, jumps up and does two fast spins to get the treat. Beagles are truly funny. What I like most, are the two barks when she wants to play a game where I throw something and she gets it, and then runs around me expecting me to chase her for it. Finally she puts it down and barks when I get. Then you understand how much energy these little dogs have, I get exhausted.

my favorite not on the list is "leave it". Its vary valuable. Imagine dropping a human medicine, the dog sees it and starts running to eat it! One quick leave it command can save a trip to the vet! It's not an easy trick, but you can teach them and it is a life saver literally! To teach it, have the dog sit and just out of reach put a treat on the ground in front of them. If they go for it block them with your hand. After a while they will watch you because they want it but know your going to block it with your hand. Repeat a ton of times until you can drop it in front of them, say leave it and they just watch it until you tell them it's ok. I like to use 2 different types of treats and give them the better one, and never give them the not so good one. Keep doing it until you can leave the room and come back and the treat is still there. Best trick!

OMG, My Beagle, Daisy Mae will " sit pretty " in the mornings while I'm in bed. She usually props herself against me and balances with one paw holding herself steady. I've always called this " sitting pretty " because growing up, my grandmother had a Dachshund or a Pekingese that would sit like this, and she always rewarded the dog for " sitting pretty ". I thought that was only a phrase that she used.

Any tips on training 2 at the same time? They are bonded sisters and have to do everything together. We reward as each one follows a command but teaching new commands is harder.
