First call the township you live in and survey any underground lines. Could save your life or savings.

The trick is to get it in deep.
Interestingly, I've never used any one of those tools on wood posts. Simple post holer.

I find it easier to use post hole digger gets much more soil out with the clamps imo... Also wouldn't it be more sturdier in the ground covered with a concrete mix/postmix instead of back filling the hoke again with the removed soil?
