If it weren’t for Lars, we wouldn’t have Metallica. In the beginning, he had all the connections to gigs. He knew all the people but he didn’t know drumming too well. My father was a hardcore drummer, beginning at the age of 5. I followed his footsteps and became the best 8th grade drummer in the state. My opinion about Lars carries weight and he just doesn’t have it. The drumming he did for Metallica worked and the band as a whole sounds amazing. But Lars individually is a very untalented percussionist. Some people have the brain and some don’t. That goes for all instruments. I have a friend that’s been playing guitar for over 24 years so far and he stinks. Some peoples have a cap off limit, in which they can build their musical abilities. There are many factors as to why that is but I’m sure if my friend didn’t work all the time, he would’ve had more time to learn.
