Lars is proof you can make it as a professional drummer even if you’ve only had a handful of violin lessons

Guys, c'mon, he's only been playing this song for 40 years. He doesn't really have it down yet.

I was in the snake pit in Dallas. Yes he is that sloppy, but no one has ever accused him of being a solid drummer. He’s Lars.

Say what you want about Lars, the fact that he's able to go in and out of time like that without coming completely off the rails is pretty impressive in its own right.

The random prechorus drum fill that seemed to weave in and out of both reality and any known time signature is just incredible

Lars is proof that if you put your mind to something and keep with it long enough, you can still suck at it.

I was always told “a band is only as good as their drummer” and Metallica has disproven that time and time again

Glad to see the drums are still playing Lars after so many years.

Lars is definitely one of the drummers of all time

I love how he just improvises new odd time signatures live in the song. Gotta keep it fresh 😅

He and James have always been a team and they make it happen. Haters can hate, but it aint Metallica without Lars.

Incredible he can go in and out of time at will

I like how his cymbals have plenty of space between them. That way he doesn’t get too confused. Years of experience contributing to that wisdom

gotta love that feathering technique with his left foot, that's some skill right there

He’s on time in this clip. But the stadium is so large that there is a very noticeable latency between hearing Lars hit the drums and when the amplified audio reverberates back from the various sections of the stadium. The little latency of sound processing through all the equipment also has to be taken into account

I love these guys, and have seen them several times. Lars was fantastic on Live shit Tour, as was the rest of the group. As I saw them on Load tour, he was a little less crisp. Hardwired, he was sounding a little road hard, but never gave up. Either way, I thank him for introducing me to thrash metal, and for not giving up. I can’t play drums as fast as I used to either, I know the feeling.

I saw them twice on the Puppets tour, being a drummer myself, I didn't leave disappointed. It's thrash, bang your head and enjoy the show. (Yes Cliff was there)

Tbf, I'd say this is pretty decent compared to how he was playing in the 00s

He’s the honey badger of drumming and I’m here for it.
