Turn up the volume on your dreams. #InTheHeightsMovie, only in theaters 2021.

The creator of “Hamilton” and the director of “Crazy Rich Asians” invite you to the event of the summer, where the streets are made of music and little dreams become big... “In the Heights.”

Lights up on Washington Heights...The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likeable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Anthony Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.

“In the Heights” fuses Lin-Manuel Miranda’s kinetic music and lyrics with director Jon M. Chu’s lively and authentic eye for storytelling to capture a world very much of its place, but universal in its experience.

“In the Heights” stars Anthony Ramos (“A Star is Born,” Broadway’s “Hamilton”), Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton,” “BlacKkKlansman”), singer/songwriter Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera (TV’s “Vida”), Olga Merediz (Broadway’s “In the Heights”), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Broadway’s “Rent”), Gregory Diaz IV (Broadway’s “Matilda the Musical”), Stephanie Beatriz (TV’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), Dascha Polanco (TV’s “Orange is the New Black”) and Jimmy Smits (the “Star Wars” films).

Chu is directing the film from a screenplay by Quiara Alegría Hudes; it is based on the musical stage play, with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and concept by Miranda. “In the Heights” is produced by Miranda and Hudes, together with Scott Sanders, Anthony Bregman and Mara Jacobs. David Nicksay and Kevin McCormick served as executive producers.

Behind the camera, Chu is reuniting with his “Crazy Rich Asians” production designer, Nelson Coates, and editor, Myron Kerstein. He is also collaborating with director of photography Alice Brooks (TV’s “The Walking Dead”) and costume designer Mitchell Travers (“Eighth Grade”). The choreography is by Christopher Scott, who previously teamed with Chu on the award-winning “The Legion of Extraordinary Dancers.”

“In the Heights” was filmed in New York, primarily on location in the dynamic community of Washington Heights. Slated for release on June 26, 2020, it will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

I saw this off Broadway years ago. We just stood in line for whatever tickets we could get from the booth in times square. We had no idea what it was but we gave it a shot and it absolutely blew us away. It is, to this day, the best play my wife and I have ever seen. Maybe it was because we were on vacation and the energy of being in New York added to the excitement of the play but it left a lasting impression on us. It became the best part of our trip and the only thing we actually remember from it. It set the standard for us and we judge every play we see against it.

Yes you can!

I can assure you that this musical will not only have you on your feet dancing to the catchy Latin melodies composed by Lin Manuel- Miranda, but will also have you searching up every song created by this musical genius!
The musical In the Heights is a raw yet beautiful story about following your dreams and paving a path for future dreamers. With the many conflicts that arise throughout the musical, it is hard not to relate to the rejection, failure, grief, discrimination and sacrifice Usnavi, Vanessa and Nina faced.
As a Mexican American first generation college student, I can strongly relate to Nina’s fear of disappointing her father as he constantly sacrifices every penny to put her through college. With having to face similar circumstances, Nina, played by Leslie Grace, symbolizes a small glimpse of hope for the long and overwhelming journey that comes with pursuing a higher level education for immigrants and dreamers.
Finally, I would love to give a round of applause for the diversity and depth given to these characters. I especially am proud to see a strong Latinx characters going through hardship, failing and rising up against all odds. Let this musical be a reminder to rise up because si se quede!
Yes you can.

I've been seeing people complaining about how boring it is.. Not all films have to be exciting to be amazing, it's telling the story of Uznavi's life. Even the most normal of lives can be an amazing experience.

I just finished watching, "In The Heights", and I cannot express how wonderful this movie is!!!! After living in NYC, this movie brought back so many memories of struggles, joys, and just the sense of there is no place in the world like NYC. (I have literally been around the world) I love the focus on Brown and Black bodies that are the foundation of NYC. The immigration and Dreamer stories solidify the importance of authentic narratives that are rooted in relatable experiences. I felt a sense of nostalgia, almost a "Do The Right Thing" or "Crooklyn" flashback but with a Latinx emphasis instead of an African-American narrative. Leslie Grace hands down has the best range and vocal performance. This movie is amazing. Thank you!!!
