Unlock Your Tight Wrists // Science of Stretching
Показать описание
Welcome to another session of Deep Stretch with Britanny. In this class we'll be practicing Gravity Yoga, the Science of Stretching, a practice rooted in targeted mobility training. Class is designed for all levels, beginners welcome!
Today, we will be reestablishing our range of motion in our wrists. Wrists get stuck and locked out because of the repetitive ways we use them. Typing at a keyboard, using your phone, and lack of counter stretching begins to affect the soft tissue, this causes stress and mobility issues.
This video is perfect after a day of work or after a tough workout. Doing this video often will yield you more range of motion in your wrists.
Best to do long hold/deep stretches after working out and/or before bed.
Science of Stretching (Gravity Yoga), founded by Lucas Rockwood at YogaBody, is targeted mobility training. This involves holding stretches for a longer period of time, passively/relaxed so that gravity does most of the work. The more time your muscles are under passive tension the quicker the muscle and fascia begin to elongate and stretch. Muscles stretch better when relaxed. In class we utilize the breath in order to do this.
1. 4:8 breath (or 3:6) to relax the stretch reflex. The bodies tendency to tense up and resist the stretch.
2. Wet Noodle: Muscles stretch best when relaxed. When possible, relax your muscles and allow gravity to do the work.
3. Meet or beat your hold time. Stretches are held between 2-5 minutes. Stay in the stretch as long as you can. If you have to tap out, just try to stay a little longer the next time.
Music is Long Ambient 6 & 7 by Moby ♡
