The real dealbreaker was the $4 shipping for the book.

In Finland we actually have one store chain that uses digital price tags in brick and mortar stores that reflect their online pricing.

In Belgium we have brick and mortar shop Colruyt. They use electronic price tags and can also changes prizes multiple times a day... Once North America will modernize too. :)

2:34 more and more stores use e-paper for their prices, so once they are installed, changing prices becomes quite a bit easier.

I'm going to college this year, can't wait to waste $23 million on just one textbook. RIP my wallet.

2:38 There are many stores (like Kohl's) that have digital price displays. I've seen the price of items change before my eyes

The idea of selling one item cheap and the rest higher is something grocery stores have been doing for years.

Supply, Demand, Price elasticity, Income elasticity, Brand loyalty, loss leading pricing stragerty, price penetration, exchange rates, costs(fixed and variable) and many more factors impact the pricing of goods sold on Amazon.

Re brick and mortar stores being unable to change prices rapidly, when a local supermarket moved into a new building a decade ago they installed LCD signs for each spot on the shelves - these are updated wirelessly (using modulated overhead lighting if I recall correctly) so could theoretically be updated on the fly Amazon style.

Umm Amazon has bit too pricy electronic items for my liking especially when compared to newegg or mdcomputers or maybe it's just my country.

I thought it was every month Amazon total up the amount of toilet flushes their employees made and if its less than the previous month Amazon cuts a price. Also I heard that Amazon powers their trucks with the tears of overworked employees.

I remember one Vintage Lightbulb I bought for 1.50$ which was ridiculously low, it never got back to this price when it went back in stock and was then way overpriced like 15$/each. That was one of the biggest price difference I've seen in things I've bought. I wish there would be more used stuff on Amazon as there can be some really good deal though it's a joke when the brand new version on sale gets to the same price of even cheaper.

In Germany there are some shops like Mediamarkt which actually have elctonic price tags to change the price more often.

They also change prices depending on what device you use (tablet, desktop, phone).

You are actually partially correct as individual sellers have the ability to change pricing by themselves even if the item is being fulfilled by amazon. there are many different apps that help those sellers to change their pricing within the same product when there is more than one seller and even according to other website like ebay. Amazon is not actually always in control of their pricing as not all their items are sold and shipped by them as they are more of a marketplace. There are even A/B testing platforms for amazon that will change pricing, title and description of a product at specific times to measure sales and clicks for the product as well as ranking on searches.

"Brick and mortar stores cant keep up with price changes" is that why we have digital display wifi shelf price tags.
