I live in a one room apartment in Sweden. I only have windows on the north side and I´m growing my first tomato plant in my kitchen window. I only use natural light and yesterday I saw that I´m having my first tomato ❤️ I´m super happy about this because most people told me that it was impossible because tomatoes need a lot of sunlight. I also have some herbs in the same window.

Great info... Love the container tomato / basil combo. When I’m out in the garden, I like to grab a cherry tomato, a little basil leaf, and wrap it around the tomato. Tasty little gardener treat. 💁🏼‍♀️ 🇺🇸

It just makes my day when Russell steals the show. I may try tomatoes this year. As I have said I retired to the beach and not much yard but I can do containers. We have deer, rabbits, squirrels and many representatives from nature so I have to protect my plants. Hope to have two or three varieties this year, thanks for the video. As usual step by step instructions are an inspiration!!!! Good luck with your tomatoes!

Great info Laura! I 💚💚💚 🍅.
I’ve grown tomatoes for 45+ years, since I was a little girl. I live in East Tennessee and our climate is completely opposite of yours.
We have always planted in rows in a big garden. We stake them and tie them up as they grow taller. Usually have 125-150 tomato plants of only a few different varieties. We do a lot of canning in the summer to have great tomatoes for soups, chili’s, spaghetti sauce, or to just open and eat, etc.
The last several years, I have planted a few tomatoes in a small area at my house.
🐛🐛🐛 Every single year, I get hornworms at the house. Never ever do I see them in the garden area. I plant marigolds with these to ward off insects the last couple of years. I did get some of the spray you recommended last year after seeing a few on my tomatoes. I really liked it. I plant them at several different areas at the house and those little pests found every one of my plants!!!
☹️🐛 Nothing worse than a hornworm devouring a beautiful plant. That’s one thing I would like you to discuss more for new gardeners. Don’t know why they are at the house and never in the big garden. Any ideas?
I also cut the bottom leaves off and plant them deep. I’ve found that the deeper the better! You can lay the plant on its side and the roots establish better and support the plant a little better. I also cut the suckers off as soon as I see them. So healthy for the plant and does allow better air flow!
I will be adding some straw around mine at home this year.
Thank you for sharing all your wisdom and your love of gardening.
Stay Safe & Happy! Blessings. 😇

Your channel is keeping me sane these days. Thank you for just talking about plants and no politics, virus, etc. ♥️

before the nice Feldco people came along, people would pinch back tomatoes and other plants with thumb and fingers. this would produce a green stain, resulting in the expression that good farmers had "green thumbs".

I would love some education on how to start vegetable seeds indoor! Just so you know, your videos have fostered my love of gardening and have inspired me to add an additional garden to our yard. So excited! Thank you!!

I’ve been sending your ‘beginning gardener’ videos to my daughter-in-law, who is starting her first real garden this year. Thank you, Laura.

I love when Russell makes an appearance. Heading to the nursery today for tomato starts. I wish I would have started seeds earlier.

Great coffee with Laura and Russell and the beginnings of tomato planting! Now I see some mistakes that I made last year in our garden at work and I will be keeping a journal of what to do for next year since we are not going to have a garden at our center since we are still closed. I think it's great that you are doing these basic videos because there are so many people that are new to gardening this year in particular due to the issues we are having.Thank you for thinking of how to help everyone become better gardeners and also be able to enjoy the fruits of their
