I let mine bush out in my very first garden, just by sheer ignorance of how growing tomatoes worked. They took over my garden, and they were huge, I got tons of tomatoes I was so proud of the disaster I created 😂😂😂

Who’s here to improve your planting skills with all this time in quarantine?

"Don't be afraid to fail if it means learning a lesson" - I love this is a gardening philosophy and as general life advice. You always say at least one thing in your videos that I rewind to hear again - thank you for your gentle wisdom.

This was so amazing. A literally perfect “how-to”. If you could do the same thing with other vegetables I would be so grateful. I’m a beginner and struggle to find a mentor/teacher that speaks so simply and conveys information so thoroughly. Bless you!

I followed your guidelines for planting tomato plants last year. We’ve been growing tomatoes for 25 years and your advice was terrific. We had the best crop of tomatoes with the best plants ever. Thank you so much. Will be following your advice again this year. 😊

I've grown Tomatoes for years and I learned so much from this video. I don't put a whole egg in, I do a mix of coffee grounds and egg shells. My understanding it's not necessarly the whole egg that helps but the shell. But I truly think either planting style is great and does really work! Thanks for this!!!

I live in Arizona, here we have a DRY HEAT. It’s very important to us hahaha. Anyway, I’m in a gardening group for Arizona and it is suggested that we actually let our tomatoes bush up. There WILL be airflow no matter how bushy the plant gets because it’s so dry heat, but there might not be shade. Our 110+ degree summers can be way too much for tomatoes and the extra foliage is very helpful.

I have not grown many tomatoes because I could not eat them without a lot of stomach pain, I learned a couple of years ago it was not tomatoes but the chemicals sprayed on them, even some of the organic ones... I think it was for a longer shelf life. But if I grow them I can eat them! So I really value learning about the egg in the soil! Thanks Jess!

Hello, sweet sis! I am just so encouraged by your tender spirit and by your kind words and helpfulness to others....and the Lord speaks through you to me in your garden devotionals...you're truly a blessing and I wanted to thank you. Also, I don't know what it is exactly but watching your videos is like going to an art gallery! They're just gorgeous! God bless you, your marriage, your children and your family as a whole. =)

Now I know to plant much deeper than I have been doing. I think that will help when there is a windy day

Never heard of the egg trick before, will try it this season. I have buried fish heads & scraps buried deep to prevent animals digging them up. The results are unbelievable. Since I haven’t been fishing lately I’m hoping the eggs work just as well

Anyone else run 🏃 out and add an egg to their tomatoes? No? Just me? Planted yesterday so it didn't disturb them much and settled them in a few inches deeper too.

I feel like we are related. I've only been following for a couple of months but I feel so connected. I love your honesty and your energy. I've been gardening all my life. All my family gardens at different levels. I started with grandparents because they were all in the country but we lived in the city. We spent our weekends helping in the gardens in the country. We used to get really hot at one of my grandparents houses and we would go swim in the river to cool down. That was in Michigan. Now for the past 15 years we've been in Tennessee. My daddy was my garden inspiration. He passed in July. We used to have long conversations on the phone about gardening. Last year, when my daddy was not well, I went back and forth to Michigan several times and he looked so forward to me bringing my different harvests. The last one I brought him was my long beans. He ate them raw. He had never seen those before. I cherish those times. Thank you for making your vlogs so personal. It's my favorite. My grandpeeps love it too! We have alot in common although I'm a bit older. Thank you for being REAL. You and your family are so sweet.😍😍😍

I didn't know I could pinch off leaves and plant it low to gain more roots that's amazingly helpful hopefully that will help me with the wind issue I've been having to give it a better root system before the wind can try to knock the poor thing over!

Since finding your channel last October, you’ve single handedly ensured that I’m now completely obsessed with growing tomatoes! And I’m growing them outdoors... in Scotland! 😂. This is my first year growing outdoors, so if it doesn’t work my husband will need to get me a greenhouse for Christmas or I’ll go INSANE!! I’m definitely doing the egg thing. Thanks for another great video Jess x
