as a CPG electronics designer, they're following trends and I'm going to wager, as they have done time and time again, that regardless of wether you like them or not, the colors that apple chooses for the ubiquitous tech become trends. in this casethis is the muted tones trend that a lot of car companies like audi and bmw have been chasing lately, i'm glad they omited some of the more ugly ones like olive, grey blue and putty
