My brother was making $4, 200 a week right out of community college welding. The only reason I can state this is because I am a Financial consultant and he asked me to manage his money. Half of his paycheck goes to retirement/investment accounts and I help budget the other half for living expenses.

Everyone told me welding was good money, I live in FL and went to a tech school after I Graduated Highschool for welding. Boy it was fun as hell to learn everything and we basically had our own little cubicles where we had our own welding machines and all the rods, wire, gas, and metal you could need to weld all day everyday. Our instructors even promised that we would graduate and be making several thousands of dollars when we get careers, well despite the fun and educational experience welding as a job sucked and did not pay like everyone promised it would. Why risk your lungs and eyes for mediocre pay? and if you get a "good" welding job you're always away from home. People really need to stop lying about stuff like this

I am a foreman on the pipeline. Ive been a pipeliner for 22 years and welders do make that amount on a 60 hour, Monday through Saturday week. Sundays off.

They 100% are not making $5k/week right out of school unless they’re working 80hrs a week. Sure it’s possible, but all you do is work and sleep.

I work as a welder in Montreal, live just outside the city so it's going to the office for me. Made 106k working 10 months and going home every day. Stay at school nerds.

Working 14 hour days, 6 days a week.
And a 16 hour day on Sunday 😂

If he's working on the pipeline as a Rigwelder. He can make 5k. Pipeline workers get lots of jump hours. You work 10hrs get paid for 16hrs.

I’m 18 and i’ve dabbled in hvac, electrical and now i’m on framing. The most i’ve started at is 19 an hour and that was framing houses. You younger guys need to realize u start out small and when u open ur own business is where the actual money comes in.
