How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

I've paid up to 5k for business home study programs, and your free videos dwarf everything else I've bought. I hope people can see the value in what you're doing. I certainly do.

Two key points:
1. If you can't learn from someone elses mistakes (or better, success) you're gonna have to make every single mistake yourself.
Alex did this with his supplement business. He couldn't close, then he closed one, then he learned from his closes until he could do it reliably in his sleep.

2. You need time under the bar.

“Who do you think knows more about snow? This is your first winter... and I’ve been living in Alaska for 20 years!” Solid truths in all of these videos. Keep it up! 💪

Someone being honest and saying, “You’re not that good”, is SUCH a relief. I can always learn more, and get better :)

Been a business owner for awhile now. The value in these videos are light years ahead of most YouTube videos I've seen or other business owners I've talked with.

Because you have nothing to sell, you are actually honest with people.

“You aren’t that good” is gold. Thanks for your input.

Just discovered you today and without exaggeration can say this is one of the best channels on YouTube for its intended purpose. Who needs an MBA when they have you? Thanks for this content man.

I just realize you have zero cuts in your video pretty much. You're incredibly engaging Alex. Fantastic

it takes years and more than 10, 000 hours of deliberate practice, repetition to know the nuance to become good at something. the process of building three miles deep foundation is not only hard but also requires you to learn fast, learn from your mistakes, from other people's mistakes, and successes. Alex is a smart learner and diligent practitioner.

Watched this 3 times back-to-back-to-back. Thanks again man. People such as myself and others appreciate the hell out of what you’re doing. P.S. can’t wait till the new book is done!

I love seeing these videos and hearing you mention people thinking you had a quick and easy success route simply because they’re just now noticing you and your channels growth.

BUT what most probably haven’t experienced, is actually seeing one of your first ads for gym launch (before you were yolked out) and thinking to myself “how tf did this guy just sign up 150 new gym clients in the most ghetto rundown looking gym I’ve ever seen”

The growth I’ve personally seen in you gives me so much inspiration. And quite literally a couple of your videos have changed (probably even saved) my life.

You’re an absolute legend.

Very valuable advice. One underrated challenge that comes from successfully building the "foundation" of the pyramid as you say in this video is the value of retention. We also have to create habits to help us retain skills, not acquire new ones.

Might be one of your most important videos. You mentioned in another video that there's a huge discrepancy in how much volume it takes to be successful, versus what people expect it to take. I think that's largely because that discrepancy happens offline/behind the scenes and its 90%+ of the work, but social media only shows us the successes. Thanks for another great video Alex.

That was awesome. I've spent over a year building a service as a product, but I neglected the marketing because I was so focused on the building. These days I'm working on the marketing from essentially zero, and polishing up the product as I fail horribly at the marketing. But watching your vids has given me new ideas. Thanks for the fuel to keep me going.
