The US version of BODMAS is PEMDAS which stands for
P: Parenthesis
E: Exponents
M: Multiplication
D: Division
A: Addition
S: Subtraction
multiplication and division are calculated depending on which comes first when reading an equation from the left, and then the same for addition and subtraction. Hope this helps anyone from the US who didn't know what the instructor was talking about with BODMAS or PIDMAS
