Now if some company would make a OLED / QLED 32:9 matte display screen with a high enough PPI and color accuracy for design work, LG's curvature and Samsung's minimalist design, we'd get the best of both worlds for editors / designers.

Just wanted to thank you for this video. It really helped me make my decision. I’m getting the LG black ops here we come.

My thing is that you can basically do the same ratio on samsung as lg if the game doesnt support it. If the game supports 329, great! If not, do maximum ratio you can. Also, 4:3 sucks for youtube, web browsing, and such. A lot of web designs are fit for 16:9 ratio. No matter the gaming/productivity, samsung has upper hands just because they can offer greater ratio. I ordered g9 oled and getting it today. I game, video edit, watch youtube and all for me to have 4:3. My friend had(emphasis) lg45" ultra gear and he hates it. Only plugs in for specific games and he is about to order g9

Don't get the Samsung Odyssey G9. They have a known issue with white screens, and they've done nothing to fix the issue. I woke up to a white screen monitor this morning and I'm looking at a hefty repair bill of about $500 because the warranty is only a year. I've had this monitor for a year and 2 months. The warranty used to be 3 years, but because of the known issues, they reduced it to 1 year. I'm thinking of skipping the repair and buying a new monitor because this has happend multiple times to some people. Bottom line: Don't do it.

4:38 switched the two brands for the curvature comparison

Great review, I went with the newer Samsung G9 with the remote. You are right the LG does handle console gaming very well I have to change the aspect ratio on the G9, luckly I sim race so the G9 is perfect for that. I also create sports content and its great to be able to see my entire timeline which is a jump from using dual 32 inch monitors. I also like the fact that G9 is shorter than the LG, I plan to stack a 32inch above it and wont have to bend my neck as much looking up at that monitor.

those disavantages are not really disavantages, I have the samsung after having the LG and i think the Samsung is much better in many ways, bigger screen, the games have mods for adjust the screen proportion and the curvature is better for gaming

I got the g9.. I went through 3-4 of them due to QC
The RGB rings in the back have hair or random gunk in them.. also the screens scratch if your room is dusty or if you end up using a cloth to end up cleaning random smudges or have a dusty room.. luckily the scratches aren't visible unless you literally look for them under flash light conditions

I wish there was more notice of the scratches and the gunk in the rgb ring bc its such a depressing thing to experience since I literally wanted the samsung one for like 3 years and I ended up getting it for christmas.. who knew it would literally turn into a headache experience lol

LG is almost double the price of Samsung in my country. So it's a no brainer. Although coming from a 1000r neo g9 I agree on your comments on the curvature. Bought the Samsung oled g9 in the end.

Have had both of these. I prefer the LG for gaming performance. Even with a 4090, you will struggle to hit Samsung's 240 hz at that res. The LG has no issue due to the lower resolution. 50 Series cards will have a better time utilizing all 240hz of the Samsung at 5160x1440. For you snobs talking about ppi, I use this monitor for work as well, and its not bad at that either. That being said, I would not buy the LG at full price. I got mine for around 900$ new. MSRP is 1700$ which is just too much for any monitor unless you're doing color correction professionally.

So, for productivity, what would be a higher PPI comp?
Or do I even need a higher PPI if I'm in Excel and 10-K's and just need text to be sharp, clear, and readable?

Wow, what a nice comparison, it helps me to choose one. Thanks!

I want that LG so bad but it feels like a bad time to buy a new OLED at this price when the 4k 240hz screens are right around the corner.

Thanks for the great comparison video. Now, looking at both monitors side by side it looks like the LG has more vertical screen then the G9 ? the LG is taller or it´s just my eyes ?
Last week I ordered from Amazon a G95SC for 1189€ I haven´t received it yet, I will be using it mainly for gaming. Maybe I should have got an LG instead 😅

After a year with 32:9 I just can't go back to 21:9.
