Hensel looked nicer but probably due to the color temp. Broncolor was too warm for me and looked slightly fuzzy somehow.

Does the octagon light typically give you more of window light look?

Yes, the Alien Bee 800 is 320ws. PC Buff didn't always name their strobes by the WS number. Truly frustrating. The White Lightening 3200 is actually 1600WS, but they make some sort of "lumen" measurement claims.  I think there are a variety of ways to have compared these lights more fairly Robb. I'm a big fan of yours, BUT, using two lights with modifiers that collect and project light, against a weaker head with two layers of diffusion designed to spread light, and even finishing with bare bulb (again, uncollected light) is just not a reasonable comparison at all.

I believe the Hensel light modifiers fit the Buffs. Besides that, they have an Octo that you could have stripped down and shot with. It is not nearly as deep as the other two, but it would have been more on par. Also, the AB with a Beauty dish shooting through the Roscoe would have given nice results as well.

That was a bit Apples to Oranges, or sprouts to cauliflower.
