Slow Cooker Beef and Potato Au Gratin

Made this today in my slow cooker but had a big problem...I should have doubled the recipe! It was delicious!!!! Will definitely be adding this to our meal plan rotation. Thanks so much for sharing with us.

So, I used your recipe for the gratin potatoes with the beef in it and it was really good! However, I did not make it in the slow cooker because I didn't have time. I did it on the stove top. I browned my ground beef. I cut up the potatoes put them in an extra deep 10-inch Skillet on low with some olive oil and a small bit of water just to steam them. I put the onion (diced) in with the ground beef, and mixed it all together at the end and it turned out really good. So if anybody's out there looking for a variation on the slow cooker it's possible. It is quite time consuming though!

Here’s the recipe: INGREDIENTS
1 lb. ground beef (plus a touch of salt and pepper to season)
3 lbs. peeled russet potatoes, sliced a ¼ inch thick (about 7 cups total after being sliced)
1 cup thinly sliced white onion
1 tsp. paprika
½ tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. parsley
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp. pepper
3 cups shredded sharp cheese
½ cup chicken broth (or beef broth)
INSTRUCTIONS
Brown the ground beef on the stove top, drain fat.
NOTE: Instant Pot Lovers: Press sauté, add a little olive/canola/veggie oil and but ground meat inside. Do not sauté with lid on!

Add a touch of salt and pepper to season.
In a small bowl combine the paprika, garlic powder, parsley, salt and pepper.
Add half of the potatoes in the slow cooker. Sprinkle over half of the onions, half of the seasonings, half of the meat, and half of the cheese. Repeat the layers again.

Drizzle over the broth evenly over the layers.
Note: Cover and cook on high for 15 minutes in the Instant pot with seal closed. I added extra cheese, cream cheese and parsley with 5 extra minutes.

Do you think this would taste good with ground turkey or chicken? I just can't stand ground beef. Makes me nauseous but I wanna try this recipe.
