Something that has helped me to convince my parents pretty well so far is saying how economic they are compared to a car and how fatalities usually happen because of lack of gear or because they were drunk. This should put aside the "Why not wait and get a car?" argument and the "They are too dangerous argument"

I got my license at 14 and will say it’s a challenge to learn the rules of the road, learn to ride and it be my only form of transport, but, when I got my car everything was so easy to learn because I had been doing it for so long, going on my 4th year riding and I love it. Introducing it to your parents early on helps a lot. Asked my parents if I could get a bike when I was 17 and they said no. Bought a bike anyways, and for a while they weren't too happy with it. But they paid for me to take the msf course, and I paid for the bike, gear, and insurance and they're pretty ok with it now (now 18)
