►There are fears for a high-profile pro-democracy activist in Egypt, Alaa Abd El-Fatta, who has refused food for more than 6 months. He has been imprisoned by the country's military regime for nearly a decade and recently also begun to refuse water.

As global leaders have been gathering in Sharm-El-Sheik for COP 27, Alaa's family fear he may die before the climate change summit ends.

His sister Mona Seif spoke to 5News about trying to save her brother.

All political prisoners in Egypt must be free. More than 60, 000 people were jailed for +5 years, lots of them without even courts issuing a sentence against them. What did they do? Writing and sharing posts and tweets online, about freedom of the press and democracy in Egypt, about economic policies that make us poorer and more in debt.
