I was setting up my new packouts and was thinking kaizan foam, but the price scared me away. I went to Harbir Freight and got some foam floor mats. A roll that was big enough to get 5 layers was about $10. Worked perfsct for a fraction of the cost.

I almost didn't watch this because I didn't think I needed the custom foam inserts tier of organizing, but I'm glad I did. The 3d printing one with the brackets is my favorite because it can be changed up. Great video!

Hi Brad
I think you are the most organized carpenter with the cleanest work shop I have ever seen.

I really like the way the kaizen foam drawer turned out! Looks really sharp (pun intended)!

Those 3d printed bins turned out awesome, but I love the look of the Kaizen foam! I could see myself printing a bin that fills the entire drawer just so I could pretend to be this organized 😆

I'm a woodworker but I also love 3D Printing so the fact that you included a 3D option is wonderful! I'm doing that one!!

I suggest using a contrasting color (maybe green, in your case) as the base for the Kaizen foam. It makes it very obvious that a tool is missing.

I love how you used a 90 degree corner assembly jig/tool/thingie when assembling the wooden bins with pin nails. Quick, simple and a great little tip right there.

i like your results with the kaizen foam, i would also add some half circles on the handles so you can put your fingers into there and grab tools easier.

One of the greatest video ideas - pulled together so many different videos and ideas into one. Thank you!

An open source alternative to those bins is Zach Freedman's Gridfinity system - since it's open source there's tons of user created modules that fits all sorts of different things

I dream of the day I can have a shop with enough room to be truly OCD organized! For now I do my best as I roll into the driveway. Blessed to have that option!😇

Great ideas! I used to have every drawer of my toolbox lines with foam and every tool had its own cutout. But man that took forever and when you added a tool it threw everything off. I never really wanted to get a 3D printer but now I’m going to start looking. Thanks Brad!

I gotta tell ya, I didn’t love the idea of the 3D printed brackets at first but when I saw it come together it was pretty cool, and I love the easy adjustability of it.

I won’t lie, the bins at the end convinced me to go all in on 3D printing. Pray for me lolol

Made drawer. Dividers from a piece of 5” square vinyl fence post. Cuts real easy and accurate on the table saw. Does not use up much drawer space and you can make them any size/shape you want.

Great ideas, Brad. Now I have to convince my son-in-law to print some bins for me. Take care.

Very nice! I can see many of these ideas making their way into my own shop storage, pretty soon in fact!
And a tip, for those small parts bins with the really tiny things like small washers, I don't know about you, but my fingers have a hard time picking those small parts out of that corner space between the sides and bottom, forcing me to reach for the needle nose pliers, shop tweezers or something with a magnet. So I made mine scoopable, like a change bin in a cash drawer. It can be something as simple as ripping a small strip with a 45 degree bevel from a piece of scrap and gluing it into that bottom corner space of the bin. Or another option is to rip one-fourth of a piece of appropriate-diameter pvc tubing, then sand down the back/outside of the 2 cuts so that the inside curve feathers into the bottom and side of the bin. I've also seen a flexible pre-molded 'caulk' strip with adhesive backing that goes around the tub that could work. Or for that matter, some actual caulk would do the trick, and put whatever curve you want in it (of course, that wouldn't harden immediately, and its flexible consistency might itself trap some items). Anything really with a flat bevel or concave curve to fill the corner where the smaller parts can get trapped and hard to pick out, and has 2 edges that feather into the bottom and side of the box.
Thanks again for the great video!

Good video as always! I design custom foam interiors for drawers and flight case for a living. Fun to see it in your video. Organise all the things!
