That is NOT the reason. It's the hinge design. If you look at the exterior clamshell in the right lighting, you can see the stress marks in the aluminum. Super subtle but clearly there. The Clamshell flexes when opening and closing, and the screen wafer is so thin that it shatters with this flex.

There should be a class action lawsuit against apple for this. This didn't happen until the hinge and clamshell were designed to be one piece.

Source: my m1 macbook that magically cracked its lcd wafer and nothing else, not the glass, no dents, no crubs, zero nada.

After inspection under bright light: stress marks on the aluminum exterior of the clamshell, only visible at certain angles and bright light.

Working as an IT Tech in an office, i can guarantee people dont take care of their own tech let alone tech they get from the company.
Just the amount of people not cleaning their laptops is crazy, for the extreme cases i wear gloves when handling them.
