Pronation is actually the inward 'twisting' of the forearm. Only flexion is done by the wrist because the joint itself doesnt twist.
If you watch pro players serve in slo mo you'll see they start the swing with the side (frame) of the racquet facing up but at the very last moment they pronate the forearm, opening up the racquet face towards the net.

It´s the forearm that pronates as the shoulder rotates internally. The wrist is basically passive and "snaps" at the end because of inertia and centripetal force, which is why it´s important to relax your wrist, because it maximizes the output (read: racket head speed) of the shoulder rotation and forearm pronation.

The Wrist does Not Pronate - it's the Radioulnar Articulation aka the Forearm that Pronates and Supinates. Think of turning a Doorknob where Counterclockwise = Pronation and Clockwise = Supination. Indeed, there's a reason why Tennis Players have huge Forearms on their dominate side, especially when they have a one handed backhand and are not using the other arm. This is actually a very common mistake made by lots of Tennis Players and Coaches who simply do not know the Anatomy well enough to know that the Forearm is many times the last joint that explodes into the shot, as opposed to the Wrist, which many times is fixed to control the blade angle, and is also why Bruce Lee said that you want a Loose Controlled Forearm.
Interestingly, I never knew how to really HIT the Ball until I started studying Bruce Lee.

I’m a beginner. Struggling with this a lot. It helps me listening to your explanation. My coach insists a lot in doing this and it feels so unnatural for me. I hadn’t heard the joint explanation. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It's the forearm that pronates, not the wrist.

Pronation happens at the elbow (radioulnar joint) and not at the wrist.
Do not confuse wrist flexion with pronation.

Simple directions to beginners are so great from Patrick.

I see some other coaches not understanding that whatever happens to anatomy, a beginner doesn't need to know it all. They just need simple instructions.

"ONLY your wrist". This motion is not wrist movement, but forearm (pronation itself) and shoulder (internal rotation). One can clearly see it as Patrick shows
