All responsibilities go to secret service. There is no excuse for making assumptions. They have one job and one job only

I like how they are throwing local cops under the bus. They strutting in all high and mighty but if something happens they blame local cops

There are security guards at fairs that could have done a. Better job than the multiple agencies in charge on July 13th

Police had 90 minutes to confront a suspicious person and didn't do it.

A failure at all levels. Almost as if they wanted it to happen…

IF the secret service wasn't just letting him fire onto Trump basically becoming accomplices then the Secret Service needs far better training.

It's a bit insulting in trying to sell us the b.s that local law enforcement is to blame. So what they are saying is not only did the cops have to follow the directions and orders of the secret service (which the SS acknowledge, at the least, had failure in communication), but also to maintain their regular duties and responsibilities to the public attending. What were the SS there for then? Just to delegate, through poor to no communication, orders?

Seemingly didn't answer?!
She waffled, obfuscated, and tried to redirect 'yes/no' with everything I heard from that first Congressional hearing.

I’m a liberal but Trump’s assassination attempt felt so un American. Democracy is important

I just find it hard to believe the SS are this inept.

Hands down the failures were the fault of those who denied interactive coms with the local pd. There wasn’t even a meeting between local authorities and SS. Whoever was in charge of the coms needs to go and never be in charge again

Why do we pay the secret service if they can't take the time to communicate with local law enforcement?

Biggest problem that I saw was that the Secret Service thought everything began and ended with their feelings.

I am aware that there are a ton of finger pointing and passing the buck in regards to responsibility for all the mistakes. Here’s my take. Local LE’s responsibility is to protect the public, and maintain a secure and orderly event. The secret service has one objective and one objective only, that was to protect the former and soon to be current president. They failed. Once local LE had been aware of the situation, the secret service should have been proactive in neutralizing the threat. That did not happen here. To explain this further, and more specifically, Local LE are always reactive to a situation meaning they react to reports. The secret service are supposed to be protecting the VIP. This means they need to be proactive to any threat present and make the moves to complete their objective, they failed. It’s clear something was off when you had local LE in numbers around that building. The secret service failed to even notice the commotion and brought trump on stage hence putting him in danger. Long story short the secret service is to blame for this failure, no one else. The threat was reported as early as 90 mins prior to trump being on stage. Until that threat was neutralized he should have never been given the ok to be on that stage. These are basics of close protection and a complete failure on behalf of the secret service. You had one job, and well it was a complete and utter failure period.

I am proud of how intensely both sides are taking this, but I wish our house reps and senate members cared this much about the people too

I still can't understand how a roof less than 200 yards from the stage and in direct line of sight wasn't in the Secret Service perimeter. A glance at Google maps showed just how exposed the stage was and how the lone tree obstructed the view of the snipers. It's mind boggling really.
