VW Golf MK7 (5G) How to tell if DPF regeneration is in progress?

Two things that you will notice while DPF is being regenerated in your Volkswagen #GolfMK7 TDI. First one is slightly increased engine idle speed. Normally it stays at 800RPM and during the DPF regeneration it's about 1000RPM. The second thing is Start/Stop system status. Even when the system is active, it will not shut down engine if the #DPF is being regenerated. In addition to that you will find "Engine must be running" message on the infotainment screen.

Thank you. I was at a garage waiting for someone to inspect and i watched this video and then my friend came over and said it could be regen process. Over revving and low miles journeying in the week.
20 min later, revs are back to normal and all is ok, so it must have been regen. Never experienced this before.

My multi gauge (OBD) also shows exhaust temps, usually when cruising in 6th at 120-160 km/h i am at 300-500c. If it's regenerating I hit 600-800c (just cruising!)

Applys for Skoda with ea288 engine also. I kind of hate it as usually happens when i get to destination even tho i do at least 1:30 hours of driving each way.

One thing I can’t understand though, regen process starts happening while driving (in mid road) and while revving i hear a disgusting grinding noise. What is happening i that process? I want to know logically what is causing that grind, and will it damage something? I can’t stop the car in mid road just to wait for the process to finish

Why there isn’t any indicator light for the DPF regen? Is there any way to code a light (maybe the one for the dpf when it’s clogged)?

The fan working alot during that time, also horrible smell come through from exhaust that time ! I usually go to mother way that time to let engine run faster and try to get rid of soot inside dpf filter, thats why motor way is good idea to let engine generate high temperature in dpf filter and burn all the soot, and then you can notice the car running fast and smoother especially when you press gass pedal 🤷‍♂️like the car can breathe better !

Can this happening 3 4 times in a row even if i wait the niddle to go back to around 8000 rpm and how many times need to finish regeneration to be clean. Also i heard some weird noises when i park car when dpf proces is turned on? . Thank you.

i have every day this regeneration multiple times? Is that normal? i dont let it to finish becouse its almoste all the time on 1000 rpm... If i restart the car RPM returns to noramal. Its golf 7, 1.6 tdi. dsg G7

2nd question does this regeneration cause oil dilution?

For my golf it happend every half tank, so it happens every 500 or 400 kms and it causes oil dilution. You can find diesel in engine oil. Also this rises the oil level of the car around 1.5 lt every 15000 kms so i will try more frequent maintance next time like 10000 kms.

I have 2016 golf 7 1.6 tdi 81 kw 110 hp. The motor code is cxxb
