Did the same install on my 2022 Tiguan and was able to just pry the buttons to the right of the shifter straight up and plug in the harness. Took a couple of minutes to do and it works great.

Great demo. On my mk7.5, the bottom trim piece was hard to get off. With some gentle persuasion, it finally released. The device seems to be working well now. Wish I had it on there 5 years ago...

If you have the light flashing:

Set it up. Ignition on. Wait for start stop to light up (or press it if doesn’t automatically) and wait 3 seconds. Press the start stop 3x in succession. Wait for it to light up again straight away with 3 seconds (1) press 2x for memory mode, or (2) press 3x for always off by default mode (wait for button light up), or (3) press 4x for service mode (wait for light off)

I have one of these. A very inexpensive and good solution. The OBD11 solution doesn't work as well because it usually throws a code. An often saught after solution on VAG forums.
