VW Golf MK7 (5G): Lane Assist activation coding

Activation of Lane Assist (Heading Control Assistant) in #VW Golf MK7 using OBDeleven #coding. Car equipped with front-facing multifunction camera can be coded with #LaneAssist that will keep the car on your lane when you don't touch steering wheel for couple seconds. This coding procedure will turn on the feature in the camera and steering, also add option to the instrument cluster and adjustment settings on the infotainment screen.

Module A5 → Long Coding:
Byte 00, bit 0 (Lane Departure Warning HCA) → installed

Module A5 → Adaptation:
HCA_On_State → Menu
HCA Warning Intersity → Menu
BAP_Personalisierung → disabled
Intervention moment → late (menu)
Personalization lane departure warning at a terminal 15 → Last setting

Module 44 → Security Access → 19249
Module 44 → Long Coding:
Byte 00 → bit 4 (Lane Assist) → installed

Module: 17 → Long Coding:
Byte 04 → bit 6 (Lane Assist) → installed
Byte 11 → bit 1 (Lane Assist information via BAP) → active

Module 5F → Adaptation:
Car Function List BAP Gen2 → LDW HCA 0x19 → activated
Car Function List BAP Gen2 → LDW HCA 0x19 msg bus → databus extended
Car Function Adapts Gen2 → Menu Display Lane Departure Warnign → activated
Car Function Adapts Gen2 → Menu Display Lane Departure Warnign over threshold high → activated

Press and hold volume knob for 10 seconds to reboot the system. Enable Lane Assist feature. Take the car for a test drive.

ℹ️ Some coding addresses will be different in newer modules / firmwares.

ℹ️ This procedure might be the same for other MQB platform cars like Seat Leon 5F, Skoda Octavia 5E, Audi A3 8V. You can also use other diagnostic tools, like VCDS, VCP, CarScanner ELM327.

9:00 Can this anoying beeping be disabled and have only visual warning to take over steering wheel? I use ACC and lane asist a lot and beeping is realy bothering non stop beeping, you can't even listen to music in peace 😕

Hi! I ve arleady installed lane asyst in my Passat b8 2018" using VCDS. The only thing I didnt do- I didnt mark in Module A5 Long coding-> byte 00 ( 16 byte in vcds)-> bit 0- here it is called "LaneAsyst_AGW_output", but i marked only bit 7- called HC 0=not coded/1=coded)". The lane asyst works very well, in radio I can mark: lane asyst, adaptptive lane guidance, and "warning power" "weak, medium, strong. It shows lane asyst on the clocs. The question is: do you know what Byte 16, bit 0 (LaneAsyst_AGW_output) is responsible for in A5 module? The only thing I dont have is steering wheel wibration and I dont have this option also in radio screen. Do u know how to turn it on?

I have a question for you. Are you okay with the way how DSG transmission is shifting gears in Drive mode? Because I have this transmission and I feel like the transmission is shifting too early which causes the result of cruising in the city 55km/h tacho and transmission shifts into 5th gear with around 1200 rmp when I can feel vibrations in steering wheel as they were in my old passat b5 tdi. I am really thinking about get the remap of DSG shifting points because of that and I think it is not really healthy for dual-mass flywheel.

Did you have to calibrate the camera after installing it before using? Or have you already had Lane assistent originally installed in your car ?
Because I have already seen somewhere that during retrofit Lane assistent you still need to calibrate the camera for the system to work properly, the same as after changing the windshield

Thanks, in my case module 44 didn't accept coding for HCA and I had to update firmware to the latest version, from 5Q0909144P to 5Q0909144AB
