They’re not the same thing. Which leads to the question “What actually is Anxiety?”

If this video doesn’t say enough OR just makes you want to learn more head over to my website and see my Anxiety Skills Course.

I have a You Tube Video that dives even deeper into this too. Search “What is Anxiety Really” to find it.

In therapy I use a combination of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Systems Theory, positive psychology, and a bio-psycho-social approach to treating mental illness and other challenges we all face in life. The ideas from my videos are frequently adapted from multiple sources. Many of them come from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, especially the work of Steven Hayes, Jason Luoma, and Russ Harris. The sections on stress and the mind-body connection derive from the work of Stephen Porges (the Polyvagal theory), Peter Levine (Somatic Experiencing) Francine Shapiro (EMDR), and Bessel Van Der Kolk. I also rely heavily on the work of the Arbinger institute for my overall understanding of our ability to choose our life's direction.

Recently went see Inside Out 2 and i appreciated how it pointed out that all emotions are needed to work together. The anxiety character was so right in how it can feel and I liked by end of movie the other characters found how be a friend to anxiety.

Just remember: no one else is usually responsible for your anxiety, especially if they don't have any history of actually causing you harm. If someone has done almost exclusively good for you, your anxiety lives in you totally apart from them and their actions, so don't blame them for it.
