2.5" is standard for a notebook or a Laptop. But the manufacturer's elite range (Notebook/Laptop - Lenovo X220) hard an extra port to facilitate msata. Where os/apps lives - that can be stored on the fast msata for performance and data can be stored
on a large 1TB secondry 2.5" drive(7200) for capacity. I still have my x220.
