My mother was 75 years old and she could skim coat a ceiling and drywall so well there was no sanding or sponging. It was like glass. She would really appreciate this

I am a former painting contractor of 25 years. 2008 sent me into retail at big box. We are finally buying a 1300sqft home and it has texture on the walls and a bad popcorn ceiling removal. Since it's been a while I found your channel to hone my skills back. This is a neat trick. You say it takes a few coats, but at the end does it look smooth? I will be watching more

What can i do if someone put paint on my ceiling before i could texture my bathroom wall. And I can see where he didnt skim it wel to look even its so noticeable

50/50 plaster and paint sealer mixed sprayed out of a graco 490 pro takes all the hard work out of level 5 skimming

Drywall finisher here, this is actually the method we use to fix ceiling except, the skim coat would be the last coat, first we’d put mesh tape on all cracks if any, 1 coat is the foundation to get rid of of humps, bulges, cricket areas etc. then the standard 2 and 3rd coat, sanding in between coats and using a 24in-48in smoothing knife. I wouldn’t recommend just skimming on the first coat because if there’s bulges, humps, patches, skimming doesn’t leave enough mud to cover those things.

Just bought a house that needs some paint and drywall TLC. Some rooms with popcorn to take down, some bad repair work. Garage has popcorn and a couple of large holes that were never taped. I also need to repair some holes in the house I cut to do some wiring. I think I’ll start with the garage to get some practice first. Good videos thanks.

Anyone try this method directly over a popcorn ceiling? I have an old popcorn ceiling from 1970 that is positive for asbestos. 😢 seriously considering doing a skim coat but wonder if this rolling method would be successful.
