Oppenheimer's R-Rated Scenes Were Too Much For Some Places

As Christopher Nolan's first R-rated venture in over 20 years, "Oppenheimer" was bound to have elements that would make certain audience members squeamish. But in some regions, audiences got more than they bargained for.

The first scene is whatever. I thought it was kind of filler, but the second one during the security hearing, IMO, was powerful. This is the first time we’re seeing things from kitty’s perspective. Her family’s dirty laundry is being aired out in public, and she’s humiliated, and Jean staring at her mockingly helped deliver it. Well acted scene, and it honestly served the movie.

I think the scenes were expected but use of Hindu scripture at that point was kinda stupid cuz Oppenheimer never used that book in the bedroom lol

Why is Hollywood so obsessed with sex scene??!! Its a biography could have used different approach... Hell theres an interview with Oppenheimer where he explains it, but Hollywood has to be Hollywood!!

Yeah, it isn’t Nolanesque. It felt like a negotiation with actor’s agent. “ You want Downey….you gotta use Pugh, too.” That’s how it works really.

I have no problem with nude love scenes but i dont get why a movie about creator of the atom bomb was needed such scenes

They had a big opportunity to represent the most sacred Hindu text in this movie since it played a big role in Oppenheimer's life, and the only way they chose to write it was during a nμde scene with the nμde woman holding the book while riding him. I don't get why anyone wouldn't find it distasteful. Its absolutely disgusting.

I would have never guessed that it's rated R in the USA. Here in Finland the rating is 12 which feels quite suitable to me. I think many 12 year olds might find the movie boring or too laborous to follow but that's out of rating discussion. I loved the movie, a real masterpiece!

I'm so disappointed that I can't even watch a movie about a Scientist without having nudity thrown at my face . I'm on the Aro/ Ace spectrum and this has been the reason why I can't enjoy any movie. It's disturbing !
All those people getting mad over others not liking the scenes, probably moans all night till their children gets absolutely Traumatised and cries till morning.
Yeah not everyone likes sex scenes, not everyone likes nudity. And I hope you'd respect that.

It was super disappointing to see Florence Pugh completely naked like that. It just came off as gross and uncomfortable. Also, I went to see that movie with my brother which made it extremely awkward.. like why couldn't they do the scene with her bra on? This just wasn't the type of movie that should have very long graphic sex scenes

The annihilation of two entire cities in the blink of an eye and persistent threat of a nuclear apocalypse is apparently less concerning to some than a few moments of exposed nipples by professional actors portraying consensual adult characters…

I am “anti sex scene” with very rare exceptions. I just don’t think they’re necessary & intimacy & physical romance imo does not need to be simulated. We get it. But we all know “sex sells” so whatever. I think the only time a well done, respectful & non salacious sex scene is necessary is if its ACTUALLY part of the plot. The only times I can think where its necessary, were The Notebook & City of Angels. Yea they were awkward but they literally were part of the plot. They literally explained the furthering of the story. In The Notebook, it was signified as physical bittersweet reunion. City of Angels, it was to express to the audience that angels do not understand what humans experience, when it comes to love & life.. and the things that come with it.

Oppenheimer 3 nudes scenes were completely unnecessary, easily this film gets PG certificate. Nolan would make it suggestive scene like he does in dark knight rises.
