Appearently they put in a sex scene in the movie because Oppenheimer were an actual sex addict so it's part of his character, it's who he were. It's to show that the man is human and had a life. The sex scene were not too bad, yes it's a sex scene but it's not porn. It's not like the sex scene were long or took all focus, it did not overtook any historic parts. Also the movie is rated R after all, it's no kids movie.

These scenes are vital for the movie to show the relationship and bond between these two characters as it effects the main characters mental state and guilt at the end of the movie over a tragedy that happens that he felt he was to blame for just like his creation of the bomb itself...People need to grow up, the actors sign for these movies knowing what they are getting into...

Devout Hindu myself and not offended one bit! If anything, it's powerful. Someone remembering Gita even at the most intimate times. We created Kamasutra anyways. And Hinduism innately treats everyone/everything as God. Creator and creation are no different, everything is Vishnu - including sex.

As a Muslim but Indian, I am also very known to the Gita scriptures. And this line was so top notch, they could've used it in a better scene of the movie, in a better frame. There is no purpose of that dialogue during an intercourse. I get that this scene was necessary to show their "crimson joy" but why bring the Gita out of context? This is a disrespectful representation of reading a holy book and also it made this scene pretty awkward.
